SULIAMANI – A Kurdish intellectual has strongly condemned the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack on the Kirkuk- Ceyhan oil pipeline, saying that “a terrorist attack” is the only definition for the bombing.

While blaming PKK on his social media page, Rebin Hardi, a Kurdish author and intellectual from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, expressed wonder that a so-called Kurdish patriotic party can carry out such an attack against the Kurdistan Region.

“PKK cannot solve its issues with Turkey, and it attacks KRG’s pipelines…what kind of philosophy is that?” Hardi wrote.

He reproached the PKK for choosing an option which cannot be defined as anything other than a “terrorist attack”.

He explained that an internal conflict is the last thing the Kurds need, “I hope a wise man could be found in the PKK to realise that their attack was a huge crime.”

On Thursday 30th July, the Kirkuk-Ceyhan oil pipeline was bombed in south east Turkey; The People’s Defence Forces (HPG), the military wing of the PKK, claimed responsibility soon after.
