ERBIL

A Peshmerga Commander has claimed that Islamic State (IS) insurgents from Iraq are assembled in one area, from where they are developing their plans for further advances.

“The structure and components of Islamic State are very complex and ambiguous,” said General Commander of the Peshmerga Ministry Jamal Mohammed, in a statement to BasNews on Saturday.

He continued, “They don’t differentiate between their Kurdish and other leaders. Many of their plans to attack the Kurdistan Region were carried out by Baathist leaders,  using Kurds as guides.”

He stated that Kurdish Peshmerga forces are fully prepared to defeat any attacks that IS insurgents attempt to carry out.

“IS insurgents often change their attack tactics in order to find a way to advance their territories,” added Mohammed.

“We will never let them advance,” he emphasised.

Coalition jets continuously shell IS bases, while Peshmerga check advances by IS, taking back territory gained since June.
