Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, who visits Turkey, had a conversation with BDP-leader Selahattin Demirtas. According to Milliyet-writer Namik durukan, Haniyeh invited Demirtas to Jerusalem, and said "Jerusalem is waiting for Salahaddin" (referring to the first name of Demirtas and to the historical Saladin who freed Jerusalem from the crusaders).

Despite of being opposition, we always support AKP's position regarding the Palestinian issue, Demirtas was quoted saying. Haniyeh answered: "We hope that you (Kurds) will get all your rights, and your own identity". Demirtas: "We would like to see a free Palestine". Haniyeh's reply: "We look forward to the freedom of Diyarbakir".
