"Second (highest) person in PKK"
Iran's Fars News Agency quoted Aladdin Brujerdi, chairman of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, as saying that Karayilan was captured by Iranian forces.
Brujerdi told the news agency that Iranian intelligence units arrested the head of the PKK.
He said that Iranian revolutionary guards launched a series of operations against the militant organization since July 16.
However, according to Reuters news agency, "our country's intelligence forces have carried out an important task and have arrested the second (highest) person in the PKK," Brujerdi, told the semi-official Mehr news agency. But the agency did not give a name.
